I took part in the third edition of the Dia de las Muertas exhibition in Maison de L'air in Paris. The exhibition ran from the 30th of October till the 30th of November. The aim was to raise awareness about femicide and gender-based violence, specifically in regards to migration.
I wanted to focus on the desensitisation we have as a society when reading statistics. I created the piece to serve as a reminder for those visiting the exhibition, and when dealing with any statistics, to realise the lives actually affected. To consider the people behind the numbers we are reading, to think about their lives, their names, their faces. To think of them as they are, as more than a number.
